Nabtesco yaw drive

Nabtesco's drive units for wind turbines are based on advanced hydraulic equipment. The company says its drives have been favorably received in the market for their higher durability, reduced weight, and compact sizes.

For years, Nabtesco says it has been developing hydraulic equipment, engine accessory and fuel systems, and flight control systems for several Japanese Defense Agency programs. Now the company, a manufacturer of hydraulic drives and controls, is expanding into energy-efficiency and environment-friendly products. Hence, it has started a new business involving the application of hydraulic equipment for yaw drives on 1-MW wind turbines. The drive units for wind turbines consist of yaw drives for pointing a turbine into the wind, and pitch drives for controlling the inclination or pitch of turbine blades in response to wind velocity.
