Flash Technologies’ FTB 360i works on turbines and met towers alike. When on met towers, it can be powered by a solar panel with batteries for unattended operations in remote locations.
Met towers are traditionally located well away from 120-V lines. Flash Technology says it recognized the problem and devised the FTB 360i, an obstruction light that runs on solar power. Flash Technology’s dc powered met-tower package includes everything needed for an FAA approved solar-powered obstruction lighting. The company says all lighting products are FAA compliant to AC 70/7460-1K and ETL certified to FAA AC 150/5345-43F. Flash Technology says improvements to its wind farm lighting make it more efficient, economical to ship, and easier to install.
The system is now 23% smaller, 34% lighter, and uses 50% less power than previous versions. The company adds that the new design maintains the smallest beam pattern allowed under FAA/CAR/ICAO standards, still works without moving parts, and is equipped with an integrated controller for field status and diagnostics. The obstruction light comes with two FAA type L-810 LED dc markers and an FTC 2301 dc red light controller.
The L 864 red LED beacon runs on 24 to 48 Vdc, so conduit is not required for most installations. The light mounts onto existing bolt patterns, and uses 97% less energy than incandescent fixtures and only 12W in flash mode and 24W steady. Furthermore, it meets or exceeds industry EMI/RFI standards and a five-year warranty. The optional solar power is optional.
