Gearboxes for 100 gigawatts of wind turbine capacity delivered by Winergy

By WPED Contributor | June 30, 2014

By June 2014 Winergy reached the outstanding landmark of 100 gigawatts of globally supplied wind gearboxes. The manufacturer for drive train components is the first company in the wind power industry that has equipped this amount of wind turbine capacity with its products. According to the Global Wind Energy Council a capacity of 318 gigawatts was installed worldwide at the end of 2013. Therefore the share of turbines with Winergy gearboxes adds up to nearly 30 percent.

“It fills us with pride to reach the 100 gigawatts,” says Stefan Tenbrock, CEO of Winergy. “It proves the great trust in us and our products. This is the only way to explain why we equipped 100,000 megawatts of wind turbine capacity worldwide with our gearboxes way ahead of our competitors.”

Besides the market leadership, Winergy became the technology leader for wind gearboxes since the beginning of production 33 years ago. The company set many trends that are standard for wind turbines nowadays. Belonging to an industry that developed rapidly since the eighties, Winergy is one of the companies that influenced this development significantly. Delivering 100 gigawatts now proves this important contribution.
