100 data loggers and measurement equipment supplied to C-WET

By Nic Sharpley | December 17, 2012

Ammonit has won the international tender for a nationwide wind measurement campaign organized by C-WET in India. C-WET (Centre for Wind Energy Technology) is an autonomous agency under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, and is the leading institution for science and technology in India for research into wind and solar energy. The purpose of the campaign is to obtain precise wind measurements, according to the internationally accepted standard IEC 61400-12-1. “We are very proud to supply our data loggers and instruments to such a preeminent scientific institution as C-WET. For Ammonit, this order is proof of our high quality equipment and successful engineering work over the past decades,” Vincent Camier, Managing Director, Ammonit Measurement GmbH.

C-WET will install 100 met masts with Ammonit Meteo-40 data loggers and first class sensors, like the MEASNET calibrated anemometers of type Thies First Class Advanced. The data logger records wind speed, wind direction, air pressure, and temperature at the site. Using the web interface of the Meteo-40 data logger, C-WET configures the data loggers according to their individual requirements. The collected statistical data is encrypted by the Meteo-40 data logger and transferred via GSM/GPRS and satellite connection to C-WET. Moreover, Ammonit data loggers show the GPS coordinates of each site, which can be viewed in Google Earth. C-WET can access each data logger via internet, according to determined periods, to display real-time data or to configure any settings.

In order to monitor its measurement campaign, C-WET will use the met mast monitoring online web platform AmmonitOR (Ammonit Online Report). By using AmmonitOR, C-WET can export measurement data to Microsoft XLS files. Additionally, AmmonitOR offers detailed reports with a large number of plots and a complete met mast monitoring system including data filters and alarm functions.
