2.4-MW turbine scores high in the first year of operation

By Paul Dvorak | January 22, 2013

Nordex N117

Since going into production, 34 of the 50, N117/2400 turbines are working at the Beebe Renewable Energy wind farm in Gratiot County, Mich.

One year after the installation and start-up of the first N117/2400 with a 91-m hub height at the Stadum-Sprakebüll citizens’ wind farm in Germany, Nordex SE reports favorable figures. The turbine has achieved an annual yield of 7,800 MWh in 7,600 operating hours at the site with average annual wind speeds of 7 m/sec, equivalent to a capacity factor of about 42.7%. Despite scheduled downtimes for testing and certification, more than 3,250 full-load hours have been registered since the turbine went into operation on 23 December 2011.

Since commencement of series production in summer 2012, Nordex has assembled a total of 50, N117/2400 turbines around the world. This includes the 34 turbines at the Beebe Renewable Energy wind farm in Gratiot County, Michigan, as well as turbines for the German wind farms Remlingen, Hohenahr and Hohen Luckow among others.
