28,000-acre wind farm slated for Eastern Illinois

By Paul Dvorak | June 5, 2009

Chicago-based Invenergy LLC plans to build a $400 million wind farm in two eastern Illinois counties. The company says it is working to erect up to 133 wind turbines on 28,000 acres in Champaign and Vermilion counties. Building could start by the summer of 2010 and the wind farm could be running by year end. The project would generate up to 200 MW and employ up to 20 people.

Invenergy Services has managed, operated, and maintained power projects, with a emphasis on wind projects. The firm oversees 3,029 MW across the U.S. in wind and thermal projects. The firm says it understands what is important; maximizing project revenues and optimizing life-cycle costs while maintaining a safe working environment. The company’s wind industry services, including wind farm construction, metal tower installation and repair, turbine commissioning, operations and maintenance, and more.
