A $million and more in cranes

By Paul Dvorak | February 15, 2012

The Leibherr LTM 1500-8.1 is to handle heavy lift work throughout the country.

Imperial Crane Services is purchasing a multimillion dollar package of Sany crawler and rough terrain cranes, five new Tadano rough terrains, and a new 600-ton Leibherr. Imperial says it is continuing with its trend of growth and expansion. While steadily adding locations throughout the United States and increasing its fleet, the company has focused on several areas on construction, including energy projects.

Imperial has forecast an upbeat crane rental and sales market beginning 2012. The company expects the arrival of its initial order in February 2012: two 40-ton rough terrains, six 65 ton rough terrains, and a 110 ton and 220-ton crawler. Currently, one of the crawlers is scheduled for long term work in a nuclear facility, while several of the rough terrains are committed to pending work. Imperial forecasts a large potential with this product line, so it has an option on an additional 20 rough terrain and crawler cranes for rental or new-equipment sales.
