AeroTorque Corp announces the Double Your Warranty Program at WINDPOWER 2016

By Paul Dvorak | May 18, 2016

AeroTorque Corp., a U.S. manufacturing and engineering firm for torsional damping products and torque monitoring for wind turbines, is pleased to announce the newest program to their product offering.  This will be introduced at the Windpower 2016 show in New Orleans. AeroTorque’s innovative WindTC and its WindTM, torque monitoring services, have gained widespread acceptance in the U.S. wind market.  The new program, called “Double Your Warranty” offers added protection for new bearings installed up tower.

The WindTC is a torque limiter that allows setting different torque values for forward and reverse.

For a limited time, install an AeroTorque WindTC in a drivetrain and AeroTorque will double the warranty of any new bearings that are installed in that gearbox.  Bearings are warrantied to see no load‐based damage up to two years from the date of installation.  Terms and conditions apply.

“We see this as a significant next‐step for turbine owners,” says Doug Herr, VP of Sales and Marketing at AeroTorque.  “The best time to install protection is before damage can start.  With WindTC, you gain long‐term protection for the life of the turbine.” AeroTorque’s WindTC retrofits on turbines from 600 kW to 2.3 MW and reduces the effects of torsional reversals.  The device further reduces both the magnitude of the impact loads in the gearboxes, as well as the strain rate and speed of the impact.  Company engineers recently completed work on an FMEA study of the effects of transient loads has been ground breaking in the industry.  They have field experience on turbines up to 2 MW and can monitor the torque on any size turbine above 600 KW.
