AEROX brings leading-edge protection system for wind turbine blades

By WPED Staff | January 29, 2020

The company AEROX has just brought to market its leading edge protection system for wind turbine blades. 20 months of work have been necessary to scale up the manufacturing and application processes of AEROX AHP LEP System, the innovative solution of the company for the protection against erosion of the leading edge of wind turbine blades.

AEROX has accomplished the main objectives of the LEP4BLADES project, developing new manufacturing and application processes that have been validated by wind turbine OEMs and service companies. “This project has been a success for the company, something that could not have been possible without the collaboration of renowned international institutions such as ORE Catapult, University of Limerick and University CEU Cardenal Herrera of Valencia as well as the support of reference industrial partners in the sector,” Raúl Cortés, CEO of the company, points out.

The results of the work carried out in collaboration with the Spanish service company GDES Wind was exposed in the Wind Turbine Blade Manufacture Conference, which took place in Dusseldorf last December. The Conference, sponsored by AEROX in the 2019 edition, is the most important international industry event on design, materials, production and performance of wind turbine blades.

Please share more details about the type of material.
Is it in a liquid form with multiple coatings or in a tape form?
Does it have material service indicator?
What is the life per layer?(If applied in multiple layers)
Do you have the rain Erosion test results published?
What is the pack size? Is it available in service friendly containers. Or only in large cans for factory application.
What is the application method if in liquid form? Spray, roller or brush?
    What is the curing time?
Is it applicable fir both epoxy and polyester laminates or as topcoat above polyester gelcoat

Your message was almost completely devoid of information. What’s the system? How does it work? How is it applied? How long does it last?
Can existing or even damaged blades be retrofitted with it? What was the critical help the partners played. I really no nothing other than supposedly a LEP something has been developed.
