Antaira Tech unwraps its industrial outdoor IP67 wireless AP/client/bridge

The APX-5200 or APX-5500 may solve some wiring problems in tall towers.

The APX-5200 or APX-5500 may solve some wiring problems in tall towers.

Wind towers are often 100-m high making it difficult and costly to deploy fiber optics from top to bottom as is necessary to connect the wind turbines, sensors, and controllers to the existing Ethernet backbone. Wireless networks offer a solution.
By installing an APX-5200 or APX-5500 at both the top and base of each wind tower, valuable production and condition monitoring data can be collected and transmitted to the remote control station through the existing Ethernet backbone

Antaira Technologies, a developer and supplier of industrial devices and networking equipment, has expanded its line of industrial wireless products with the APX-5200 and APX-5500 industrial outdoor IP67 Wireless AP/client/bridge/repeaters.

The Antaira Technologies’ new APX-5200 wireless device is a managed unit with a built-in web console that lets users configure the unit as a wireless access point, client, bridge, or repeater. The unit also features two gigabit Ethernet ports allowing for daisy chain applications. It supports IEEE 802.11b/g/n wireless communication standards and has a data rate of up to 300Mbps. The APX-5200 is PoE PD (Powered Device) IEEE 802.3af compliant and comes with two 5dBi@2.4GHz Omni antennas supporting MIMO communication. Directional panel antennas can be mounted to the standard N-type connectors on the unit to increase the communication distance capabilities. The APX-5200 also includes an internal wireless signal strength indicator through the web console, allowing for optimal antenna alignment.

Due to the APX-5200’s industrial IP67 waterproof design, the unit is able to offer wireless connectivity in various market applications. For example, security for video surveillance systems, transportation for vehicle depots, or any outdoor environment where a wireless connection point is needed. The APX-5200 requires power from the 48 volt PoE standard.

The unit comes with a ground terminal built into the pole mounting screw for protection. It features a hidden SSID, MAC address filtering, and WEP/WPA/WPA2 64 and 128 Bit as well as IEEE 802.11i / 802.1 x security authentications. This device is also compliant with part 15 of the FCC rules and holds a 5-year warranty The unit features an IP67 waterproof housing that is created from durable aluminum. The measures 83 x 241 x 267 mm (3.25 x 9.5 x 10.5 in.) and weighs 5.15 lb. It has an operating temperature range of -20 to 70˚C
