Natural Power, which runs the 24/7/365 wind farm operational control function, WindCenter, is now providing round the clock monitoring and access control including SCADA system checking, fault logging, and personnel activity tracking.

Aquinergy, developer of 250 kW to 20 MW wind and solar projects, has appointed Natural Power in partnership with Rev1 Renewables as the provider of remote monitoring services and access control on two single turbine projects located in the towns of Kingston and Ipswich, MA.

Natural Power, which runs the 24/7/365 wind farm operational control function, WindCenter, is now providing round the clock monitoring and access control including SCADA system checking, fault logging, and personnel activity tracking. The contract, awarded to Natural Power, is part of an ongoing O&M contract between Aquinergy and Rev1 Renewables.

The two 2 MW Hyundai HQ2000’s will be monitored by Natural Power for three years under the current contract and demonstrates an affordable solution to developers operating smaller projects needing 24/7 monitoring and access control support.

On the announcement, Jim Adams, President of U.S. Operations at Natural Power commented: “In 2011 we partnered with Rev1 Renewables in response to a real market need for independent 24/7/365 monitoring of operational wind assets combined with responsive technician crews.”

Kially Ruiz, President and co-founder of Aquinergy noted: “In the year since we signed on to WindCenter and brought REV1 onboard, we have relied constantly on Natural Power to be our eyes and ears in protecting these remote wind assets. The ability to have a world class 24/7 monitoring center, staffed by professionals who can alert us to the operational status of the wind turbines, has been one of the key factors in our successful operation of these distant wind farms.”
