Renewable energy consultants, AWS Truepower, have released their 2015 Annual Wind Trends Bulletin.
The 2015 bulletin shows that some of the world’s key wind-producing areas experienced mildly to significantly below-normal winds last year. These areas were led by China, the United States, India, and southern Europe.
Southern India, the western U.S., and southeastern China were particularly hard hit. Other wind-producing regions, such as northern Europe and northeastern Brazil, experienced above-normal winds. It was a notably strong year for the UK and Denmark.
Knowing the performance of the wind can help wind developers understand the performance of their wind plant. AWS Truepower can help identify areas of improvement, reduce downtime, and maximize a wind plant’s energy production.
New to the Wind Trends Bulletin is the Global Wind Performance Index, which is designed to provide a quick and easy way to track the influence of wind resource variations on wind industry performance.
