AWS Truepower releases first monthly Wind Trends Bulletin

By Michelle Froese | November 17, 2015

WTB October 2015.inddAWS Truepower’s monthly wind performance maps are released shortly after the end of each month. This new service offers an enhanced look at the company’s Wind Trends, which provide a quarterly snapshot of wind performance.

The new monthly performance maps show deviations in the wind resource from average conditions in every region of the world for the preceding month.

The maps are based on a custom combination of three re-analysis data sets:

  • ERA-Interim,
  • MERRA, and
  • CFSR.

The use of all three provides for rapid, reliable updates of global wind conditions.

Knowing the performance of the wind can help wind-farm owners and operators better understand the performance of their wind plant. AWS Truepower can then help identify areas of improvement, reduce downtime, and maximize a wind farm’s energy production.
