Renewable energy consultants, AWS Truepower, have released their Wind Trends Bulletin for Q4 2017. Quarterly wind performance maps for Q4 2017 show deviations in the wind resource from average Q4 conditions in every region of the world.
The quarterly Wind Trends Bulletin is based on a custom combination of three reanalysis datasets: ERA-Interim, MERRA, and CFSR. The use of all three allows for rapid, reliable updates of global wind conditions.
In the fourth quarter of 2017, winds were above normal relative to the long-term, fourth quarter norm (1988-2014) across much of North America, South America, and Central Europe. Winds were below normal across Western Europe, Asia, and Oceania.
