AWS Truepower releases Wind Trends Bulletin for Q1 2016

By Michelle Froese | April 21, 2016

Renewable energy consultants, AWS Truepower, have released their Wind Trends Bulletin for Q1 2016. Quarterly wind performance maps show deviations in the wind resource from average Q1 conditions in every region of the world.

In the first quarter of 2016, winds were above normal relative to the long-term (1988 to 2014) first-quarter average across much of the United States, eastern Canada, northern South America, southern Europe, the Mediterranean region, Central Africa, and much of eastern Asia. Winds were below normal across the southwestern and parts of midwestern United States, southern South America, northern Europe, western and eastern Africa, much of western Asia, and Oceania.

Knowing the performance of the wind can help wind developers understand the performance of their wind plant. AWS Truepower can help identify areas of improvement, reduce downtime, and maximize a wind plant’s energy production.
