AXYS and 3E plan to collaborate on new offshore products and services

By Michelle Froese | October 27, 2015

FLiDAR-Buoy

FLiDAR offers cost-effective, accurate, offshore wind-resource assessments with the floating LiDAR technology.

AXYS Technologies (AXYS) and Belgium-based 3E NV have jointly signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) regarding future collaborations and cooperation activities.

AXYS is an ISO 9001 registered Canadian company and a global provider of offshore data acquisition systems. 3E provides consultancy and software services to support and guide clients in developing and operating profitable renewable energy installations, including wind energy.

The companies were first introduced in August 2015 when AXYS purchased FLiDAR NV, previously owned by 3E and OWA. FLiDAR was originally established as a joint venture between 3E and OWA (DEME group), to build, service, and commercialize a floating LiDAR-based measurement device, such as those used in the offshore wind industry.

Although AXYS and 3E have traditionally different geographical markets and commercial offerings, both companies work in offshore marine industries and believe that together they can offer more complete solutions to common clients.

Collaboration activities planned under the MOU include commercially driven research, development and demonstration, as well as sharing market trend information and innovative problem-solving techniques to meet and exceed client requirements and expectations. AXYS and 3E expect to develop and jointly market several new solution offerings to their perspective clients as a result of this cooperation agreement.

“We are pleased to be able to collaborate with 3E to develop new services and products that we truly believe will provide increased value to clients of both companies. This is an excellent opportunity that presented itself following our acquisition of FLiDAR six weeks ago,” said Terry Tarle, AXYS President and CEO. “Both of our companies have a culture of innovation,“ added Geert Palmers, 3E CEO, “and by combining our efforts we plan to bring new innovative solutions to market very quickly.”
