Blade manufacturer expands production

By Paul Dvorak | May 18, 2012

With the new facility in Baroda, India, the company says it will offer competitive blade sets for 250-kW turbines

Blade manufacturer Global Blade Technology (GBT) is working on a portfolio of blades for the 50kW to 1 MW range. Among those is a blade for 250-kW turbines. There is consistent demand in different regions of the world for new turbines as well aftermarket applications.

GBT has several blade sets for stall and pitch regulated machines, as well as for different hub connection configurations. As the size of these blades allows for cost effective worldwide transportation, GBT plans to manufacture the blades at its location in Baroda, India.

“After several requests, we have decided to move ahead and bring our design ideas for these blades to life,” says Manish Mukherjee, GBT’s Molds, Tooling and Prototyping leader, “While this is somewhat different than a lot of the custom work we do for the bigger end of the market, we feel that for this segment we need to take the first step to help our customers overcome some of the barriers to a new blade program. With our new facility in Baroda, we will be able to offer a very cost competitive solution for this segment.”

GBT is now accepting orders and will be ready to deliver blade sets in the third quarter of this year. If you are looking for blades in this segment, or have a specific request, please contact GBT at info@gbtholding.com.
