Blattner Energy expands office headquarters with renewables

By Michelle Froese | May 4, 2015

With the expansion, Blattner Energy will continue to power a portion of its campus from wind and solar energy produced on site.

With the headquarter’s expansion, Blattner Energy will continue to power a portion of its campus from wind and solar energy produced on site.

Blattner Energy, a power generation contractor and leading provider of renewable energy construction in North America, announced that it will renovate and expand its headquarters building in Avon. This includes a two-story, approximately 23,300 square-foot addition. The company will add 87 new offices and work stations, an auditorium, and more.

Like the original headquarters building, the new additions will promote sustainability and efficient energy use, including an electric car charging station and geothermal HVAC system expansion, similar to its LEED Platinum original construction. Blattner Energy will continue to power a portion of its campus from wind and solar energy produced on site.

“The wind industry helped fuel our past growth, but now we’re seeing increased demand for our services within other areas of the renewable energy field,” said Scott Blattner, president of Blattner Energy. “We’re delighted to expand our headquarters to fit our growing needs.”

The current headquarters building opened in 2008, and company growth has quickly led to a need for more space. The expansion will be completed in December 2015, with the remodeling of the existing space finishing in May 2016. A ceremonial groundbreaking was held on April 24. Knutson Construction Services of Minneapolis, the general contractor on the initial headquarters build, will return to serve as the general contractor for the 2015-2016 expansion.
