Bolt brochure highlights multi-jackbolt tensioners and more

By Paul Dvorak | July 30, 2012

1) Tightening the jackbolts generates a strong thrust (axial) force. This thrust force is directed against a hardened washer. Jackbolts have a small friction diameter and can therefore create a high thrust force with relatively little input torque. 2) Loads transfer through the nut body which is positioned on the main thread by hand. 3) A hardened washer transfers the force while protecting the flange face. 4) The thrust (axial) force of many jackbolts and the opposite reaction force of the main bolt head create a strong clamping force on the flange. 5) The thrust (axial) force from the jackbolt creates an equally strong reaction force in the main bolt.

A manufacturer of bolt securing systems offers a combination of bolting expertise and a wide product range, including wedge-locking devices and Superbolt tensioners. The just released “Multi-jackbolt tensioners (MJTs) standard range” Superbolt catalog highlights one of the more innovative technologies available for tightening bolts and studs, according to the company.  MJTs offer simple and cost effective tightening, and have been proven in the field in every major industry.

The chart shows how Superbolt tensioners remain easy to install, even on larger sizes, compared to standard hex nuts. Only hand tools are required to tighten any diameter stud / bolt.

This new edition contains technical information on a new standard global range of MJTs, and how using this technology can help increase worker safety and safeguard customer investments. Multi-jackbolt tensioners retrofit existing nuts and bolts and require only hand or air tools to tension accurately and quickly. The new release is available by request, and in digital form at the company’s revamped and improved website: www.nord-lock.com or www.superbolt.com.
