Fluvanna I Wind Farm is up & running in Texas

TERNA ENERGY, a member of the GEK TERNA Group, announced the completion and start of commercial operations of the Fluvanna I Wind farm in Scurry County, Texas. Its construction began in December 2016, and was completed in less than 12 months.

The 155.4-MW Texas wind farm is made up of 74 Siemens Gamesa turbines at 2.1 MW each.

Fluvanna I has a total capacity of 155.4 MW and consists of 74, 2.1-MW Siemens Gamesa wind turbines. The wind farm will deliver green electricity into the Texas Interconnection power grid and supply more than 46,000 homes.

For the successful funding and completion of the project TERNA ENERGY partnered with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), as well as with a consortium of banks. The total cost of the investment reaches $ 250 million.

With the operation of the new wind farm, the total installed capacity of TERNA ENERGY Group in the U.S. accounts for 293 MW. The Group already operates a 138-MW wind farm in Elmore County, Idaho, and pursues additional investments in the U.S. renewables’ market. The Group’s total installed capacity accounts for 941 MW.

The Group also has installations of 516 MW in Greece, 102 MW in Poland, and 30 MW in Bulgaria. Currently, it has RES installations under construction or ready for construction with a capacity of 208 MW in Greece and abroad. It plans to reach almost 2,000 MW of RES projects in operation in all countries where it has selected to extend its activities.
