The California Independent System Operator (CAISO) has unveiled an important resource for tracking renewable energy data.
The new Monthly Renewables Performance Report, posted on the public ISO website, offers a broad menu of metrics related to renewable energy, including net demand, oversupply, curtailments, reliability, and negative pricing, all consolidated in one easy-to-access document.
As the premier energy marketplace in the western states, CAISO designed the report to enhance transparency, collect vital data previously scattered throughout the website, and help the public understand the role of renewable energy in driving market and operational trends.
The new user-friendly report is displayed in HTML format, allowing viewers to interact with plotted points for specific numbers and time elements. The format also gives viewers the capability to download the data populating each graph. The report displays graphs of monthly minimum, mean, median, and maximum net load ramps, daily and monthly renewable curtailments, frequency of negative prices in the realtime market, control performance, and reliability-based control.
The document will be posted to the ISO’s newly designed Today’s Outlook Supply page, under the Monthly Renewables Performance Report tab, and updated the middle of each month.
