Certification firm and OEM partner for functional safety webinar

By Paul Dvorak | July 11, 2012

TÜV Rheinland and Siemens Industry will hold a free Functional Safety webinar, on Wednesday, July 25, at 2 p.m. EST providing an opportunity for manufacturers of electric, electronic, and programmable systems to learn more about Functional Safety compliance for machinery.

Functional Safety ensures that products meet necessary standards designed to minimize the risk of physical injury to people. It has become an increasingly important requirement for machinery over the past decade. Businesses seeking to expand internationally must comply with standards such as IEC 61508 to access many markets.

The 45-minute educational discussion will highlight the requirements of IEC 61508, EN/ISO 13849 and IEC 62061 standards, with a focus on machinery controls, and compliance with the European Union’s Machinery Directive. It will introduce the audience to Functional Safety of electric, electronic, and programmable systems and provide an overview of the safety philosophy.

The presenter is Joseph Lenner, Senior Functional Safety Engineer at TÜV Rheinland, has 28 years of experience in project management and large-scale systems design. Lenner holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Cleveland State University. The webinar will take place on Wednesday, July 25, at 2 p.m. EST.
