Cleantech Open holds NE regional finals Oct 4 at Microsoft Nerd Center

By Paul Dvorak | September 28, 2011

On Tuesday, October 4, 2011, the Cleantech Open will hold its regional semifinals in Boston.  Throughout the past three months, the 141 teams that were selected as semi-finalists in this year’s National Cleantech Open Business Competition have been working to perfect their business models and investor pitch, which will be judged by a panel of industry veterans in seven regional competitions. The semi-finalists, a wide variety of entrants range from students to experienced entrepreneurs, will be judged on the viability and profitability of their fledgling cleantech company.

Formally known as Ignite Clean Energy Competition, the Northeast Cleantech Open has established itself as an East Coast leader in developing clean tech start-up entrepreneurs addressing the largest energy, environmental, and economic challenges facing us today.

The Northeast Regional Finals event and reception will take place at the Microsoft NERD Center on October 4th, 2011. Here 35 teams – among the top cleantech entrepreneurs in the Northeast region – will compete for three regional cash and in-kind prizes and the opportunity to compete for the national grand prize of $250,000 in cash and services at the Cleantech Open Global Awards Ceremony in San Jose, California in early November. Attend to see these teams pitch and showcase at this event. To learn more about the Northeast semifinalist teams visit: http://www.cleantechopen.com/app.cgi/entry_list/2011/2#region6.

The Northeast Regional Finals Event will be co-hosted by the New England Clean Energy Council (NECEC) and it is encouraged for all interested in forming a part of the Northeast’s growing cleantech ecosystem to attend. The event’s primary sponsor is the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center: http://www.masscec.com/.  The event will start at 5:00pm.
