Condition analyses for bearing grease – a service

By Steven Bushong | June 15, 2012

Klüber Lubrication’s analysis service is now available for lubricants in generators, blades, and main bearings of wind turbines. The “Grease Condition Analysis (GCA)” service is part of KlüberMonitor. Grease-condition analyses tells of general grease conditions, additive behavior, oxidation, wear particles, mixing with foreign matter and the extent to which old and new lubricant are mixed after changeovers.

An analysis is by means of standardized methods on a regular basis to provide information on a grease’s condition. Based on analysis results, the failure risk of expensive components can be reduced and useful life increased. Grease condition analysis is recommended for standard condition monitoring and prior to changing over to another bearing grease. The service informs operators on the status quo and gives a sign of warning when something is wrong.
