Two Latin American power companies have signed separate deals with a developer of energy managament software. Ventyx, part of ABB, will provide the companies’ electric grid controls with its Network Manager SCADA/Energy Management System.
In Chile, Ventyx will work with CDEC-SIC, an independent system operator responsible for powering 92% of the population there, and whose coverage extends more than 2,000 km across the southern and central regions of the country.
In Uruguay, the power company UTE will upgrade its previous SCADA/EMS system to Ventyx Network Manager, including the adoption of applications focused on high-voltage network operations. Network Manager will also carry out automatic generation control to achieve regulation of interconnected power sources, including the variations that come from windpower systems installed in coming years.
The developer says its commitment to the South America market is strengthened by the company’s delivery center for network control projects in Brazil, which includes support staff fluent in local languages.
