Equipment World: Five new products

By Steven Bushong | October 29, 2012

Touchscreen HMIs ready for advanced data collection

Software developer Maple Systems offers three new human machine interfaces (HMIs) models with thin film transistor touchscreen displays designed for efficient graphic animation and heavy data processing.

Housed in a corrosion-resistant aluminum case, the HMIs connect to PLCs, drives, and motion controllers through two serial ports, a USB port, a CAN bus port, and an Ethernet port to log data and capture alarm history. The company says the models can now send alarm condition alerts via email. The models can be monitored and controlled from any networked PC, handheld device, or smart phone.

The models include a 7-in. (HMI5070P), 12.1-in. (HMI5121P), and 15-in. (HMI5150P), are NEMA4 (IP65) rated, and carry both CE and RoHS certification.

Positioning spray for composite matrices

The Adjustable Composite Positioning System 11095 is a positioning spray for pre-infusion resin bond dry reinforcements and composite matrices. The ACPS 11095 flows into a part during resin infusion, eliminating read-through and transition layers post-cure. It’s compatible with most resin systems and goes down on flat and curved molds. The product undergoes a color change from blue when first sprayed, to clear.

Battery eliminates need for sliding trays

Safety and ease of maintenance improve for this uninterruptable power supply. The DataSafe 12HX680F-FR front terminal battery is valve-regulated and lead-acid battery based. It provides 12V or 680V, and compliments the company’s other batteries. The front terminals give the unit a smaller footprint, eliminating need for sliding trays. The battery meets the Battery Council International 4D group size.

“Lightning one mile and headed your way”

InReach, a dustproof, waterproof, buoyant, and impact-resistant two-way satellite communications tool is compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod. The company is working with the wind industry to combine inReach with lightning, dangerous weather, and advance-warning services. Using Iridium, a satellite communications network, inReach works anywhere in the world.

Recloser closes circuits opened by faults

Elastimold Recloser offers modular, lightweight, intelligent foundation for smart grids. The product upgrades easily and cuts installation costs. A recloser is a circuit breaker equipped with a mechanism that can close the breaker after it has been opened by a fault. Reclosers are used on overhead distribution systems to detect and interrupt momentary faults. Because many short circuits on overhead lines clear themselves, a recloser improves service continuity by restoring power to the line after a momentary fault. The recloser has a standard 150 kV BIL rating, is available in 15, 27, and 38-kV configurations
