Ergodyne intros chill-its cooling arm sleeves for instant cooling relief

By Paul Dvorak | March 31, 2017

Just in time for summer, Ergodyne introduced another cooling item to its Chill-Its Line today. Chill-Its6690 Cooling Arm Sleeves activate instantly when wet, using evaporation for extended cooling and protection from the sun’s harmful UV rays.

It’s easy to activate. Simply run under water until saturated, wring out and wear. When wet, the material begins to cool immediately.

“Our extensive line of heat stress products has established us as a leader in the cooling space,” said Alsie Nelson, product manager, Ergodyne. “But we haven’t had a product that offers full arm cooling and protection until now.”

Made of hydrophilic/hydrophobic fibers, the 6690 Cooling Arm Sleeves activate by first being saturated with water and then exposed to air. The combination of water and air flow help the arm sleeves wick moisture away from the body to create an evaporative cooling effect.

Machine-washable and reusable, the sleeves also cool key pulse points, shield skin from the sun with UPF 50+ protection, and even guard against light levels of abrasion. Even when dry, they absorb sweat and wick away moisture.

“There are many jobs in which workers shouldn’t expose their skin,” said Tom Votel, president and CEO of Ergodyne. “Unique in the industrial space, these sleeves will allow them to cover their arms and still fight the hazard of heat stress.”
