Ex cable gland made from polyamide with 7-joule impact resistance

By Joshua Smalley | June 17, 2015

Euro glands

The Euro-Top X3 HI has an increased impact resistance of 7 joules and a potential temperature range of up to -60° C.

The new Euro-Top X3 HI cable gland was first seen at the end of last year at SPS IPC Drives in Nuremberg, the international trade fair for electrical automation, systems and components.

The product from RST Rabe-System-Technik und Vertriebs-GmbH is the first Ex screw connection made from polyamide approved according to EN 60079-0:2012 for all sizes (M12 to M63), including the 7-joule impact resistance test.

The Euro-Top X3 HI is the first solution to be approved for use in Ex e and Ex i rated areas – from mechanical and plant engineering, the petrochemical industry and mining, to motor and drive technology .

The cable gland is temperature resistant from -40° C to 70° C, and with a silicone sealant can be extended to -60° C. Its other features include protection ratings IP66 and 68, the ability to clamp cables with a diameter from 4 mm (M12x1.5) to 44 mm (M63x1.5) and approvals according to ATEX, IECEx and EAC (GOST/TC RU).
