Flash Technology post bulletin on power supply in Vanguard medium FTS 370 (obstruction light) systems

By Paul Dvorak | March 1, 2018

Flash Technology is issuing this technical bulletin to notify our customers and technical teams about a possible issue with some power supplies in Vanguard FTS 370 lighting controllers from June 2016 to October 2017.

Customers who are unable to restore the system to operation are encouraged to contact their Flash Technology representative or Flash Technical support (1.800.821.5825 Option 9) for further assistance.

In monitoring product performance, Flash Technology noticed an intermittent operational condition affecting 60V power supply on the FTS 370 system. Flash Technology immediately researched the issue with the power supply manufacturer and isolated the issue to two specific production lots.

Systems containing a suspect power supply work well until there is a loss of power. The system then issues a “Low DC Alarm” as it normally would. If power is restored immediately, a suspect power supply may not immediately power up. However, if the power supply is allowed to rest for ~15 minutes before repowering, it typically turns back on and works as specified.

Customers who are unable to restore the system to operation are encouraged to contact their Flash Technology representative or Flash Technical support (1.800.821.5825 Option 9) for further assistance.
