Funding for wind energy research may be on the line

Congressman Dave Loebsack (D-IA) and Congressman Mike Coffman (R-CO) need your help to find co-signers for their letter requesting funding for the Department of Energy’s Wind Energy Program.

More research and development is critical to further the advancement of American-made energy. The Wind Energy Program is moving us forward, conducting critical work in areas such as:

  • Project design, optimization, and testing
  • Intelligent grid operations
  • Energy storage technologies
  • Smart materials
  • Inspection and reliability tools
  • Advanced manufacturing technologies

These functions are necessary to sustain the development of our country’s energy sources.

The last time the Wind Energy program was funded at an acceptable rate was in FY15 at $107 million (take a look what they accomplished with those funds). Now Reps. Loebsack and Coffman are looking for other members to stand behind their letter requesting the Wind Energy Program be funded at minimum $94.5 million. The deadline for signing the letter is coming up quickly on Friday, March 31.

The people who work at the program’s laboratories and testing facilities are counting on sustained funding. Please contact your representative and ask they become a co-signer of this letter.
