Gamesa awarded debut order by Voltalia for 27.3 MW of wind power in Brazil

By Michelle Froese | July 26, 2016

Gamesa, a global technology provider in wind energy, has secured its first order from fast-growing electricity producer Voltalia. Gamesa will supply 13 of its G114-2.1 MW for a total of 27.3 MW at Voltalia’s Vila Acre wind facility in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, in North-Eastern Brazil.

Gamesa will install 27.3 MW at the Vila Acre wind complex, located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.

Gamesa will supply 13 of its G114-2.1 MW turbines for a total of 27.3 MW of wind power at the Vila Acre wind complex, located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.

The G114-2.1 MW turbines are ideal for Brazilian conditions, which include constant, low-turbulence winds. The Brazilian order for this turbine has already exceeded the 1-GW mark, making in one of the most contracted Gamesa products in 2015 energy auctions.

According to MAKE Consultancy, Gamesa tripled its presence in the Brazilian market in 2015, increasing its market share from 10% in 2014 to 29%. Gamesa recently merged with Siemens’ wind business.
