Gamesa supplies 172 MW in India

By Michelle DiFrangia | October 30, 2014

Gamesa continues to strengthen its presence in India by securing new contracts for the supply of 172 MW.

Under the terms, Gamesa will supply a total of 86 of its G97-2.0 MW wind turbines at five wind farms located in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Maharashtra. The wind turbines, which will be made locally at Gamesa’s Indian factories, are scheduled for delivery over the course of 2015. The agreements also encompass the provision of the related operation and maintenance services under medium and long-term arrangements.

So far this year, Gamesa has closed supply agreements in India encompassing capacity of close to 500 MW, making it the company’s number two market in terms of signed orders, second only to Brazil.

These agreements, with customers of varying profiles, endorse and reinforce Gamesa’s strategy in this market in which it has a solid and diversified customer base.

Gamesa is present in India as technology provider and wind farm developer. The company, which ranked as the largest OEM in India by market share in 2013, has installed over 1,440 MW and manages more than 1,150 MW under O&M agreements. In the first half of 2014, India accounted for 30% of Gamesa’s consolidated revenue.
