GEV Wind Power launches fixed-price maintenance plan

By Michelle Froese | June 26, 2015

OandM

GEV has introduced the industry’s first fixed price maintenance plan to safeguard against escalating O&M costs.

The perennial problem of uncertain time and material costs is being addressed by GEV Wind Power, as the company launches its fixed price blade maintenance service, available to onshore and offshore site owners.

A first in the renewables industry, the service is available as part of GEV’s Preventative Maintenance Programme (PMP) and provides site owners with the security of a scheduled maintenance programme, at pre-agreed cost, which is potentially significantly lower than their current maintenance commitment.

GEV’s PMP offering includes a pre-assessment of all turbine blades using high resolution pano-imaging technology, from which a maintenance schedule is produced. Technicians are then able to concentrate on the blades requiring priority maintenance and all in-depth reporting is completed via GEV’s I-RIS tablet-based app.

Maintenance work is undertaken by technicians taking advantage of GEV Wind Power’s Habitat structure, as required.  The habitat enables work to be undertaken in an optimum maintenance environment, therefore mitigating restrictive weather conditions.

Projects director, Alastair Gadney, comments on the new pricing structure: “The addition of our fixed priced Preventative Maintenance Programme will provide significant benefits to onshore and offshore site owners.  From agreeing an annual maintenance price per turbine, which is based on the size of the field and its potential maintenance requirements, our technicians are able to set to work on a pre-agreed annual maintenance schedule. Site owners are then able to feel confident knowing their maintenance costs are pre-agreed, and they are no longer hostage to the unpredictability of the Great British weather!”
