German transformer manufacturer CG has received certification from GL Renewables Certifcation (GL RC) for its liquid immersed SLIM and “Bio-SLIM distribution transformer”. The hermetically sealed transformer is also available with a bio-degradable transformer fluid which reduces the risk of pollution at environmentally sensitive locations, such as offshore. The certification was carried out according to GL’s Guideline for the Certification of Offshore Wind Turbines, Edition 2012.

At EWEA Offshore in Frankfurt, Holger Trecksel, Head of Sales and Business Development GL RC, handed the certificate over to Yves Vanlinthout from CG. “The certification demonstrates that CG’s transformer has been designed, documented, manufactured and tested in conformity with latest technical requirements documented in GL RC’s Offshore Guideline,“ explains Holger Trecksel. GL RC assessed the transformer in terms of its system design, the implementation of design requirements in Production and Erection (IPE) and CG’s quality system.
