How can offshore wind turbines be built more safely, quickly and cost-efficiently? What can be done to ensure that energy generated by wind farms is fed into the grid exactly when it is needed? How can transport losses be reduced? Is there any hidden potential to make wind turbines more efficient? To encourage young scientists in their research endeavor on subjects like these, GL Renewables Certification has established the “GL Wind Energy Award for Young Professionals.” The award will honor innovative ideas and new technical approaches to research and development in the wind energy industry.
For the third time, GL Renewables Certification is looking to motivate young scientists to take up the challenge and hand in a diploma, master, project or bachelor thesis which pushes the boundaries of knowledge in the wind energy industry. The thesis which best represents this year’s topic: “Innovative ideas for wind energy” will be presented with the GL Wind Energy Award for Young Professionals 2014. The winner will be awarded a cash prize of 5,000 Euros. Second prize is 2,500 Euros and the third prize will be awarded with 1,000 Euros.
Submissions must be received by November 15, 2013. Winners will be notified by mid-February 2014.
