Husum shows high interest in N117/2400

By Paul Dvorak | October 22, 2012

The Nordex N117 got a lot of attention at Husum Wind Energy Expo 2012.

The Nordex N117 got a lot of attention at the Husum Wind Energy Expo 2012.

At this year’s Husum Wind Energy Expo, Nordex informed visitors of current developments, trends, projects, and detailed solutions for all aspects of its multi-megawatt turbines. The center of attention at the company’s fair booth was the N117/2400 light-wind turbine.

Nordex has been producing the N117/2400 turbine in series since mid-July. The turbine has already been sold out for this year, several turbines have already been installed in Germany. At this writing, the North American 81.6 MW “Beebe” project is being installed in Gratiot, Michigan, with 34 large N117/2400 turbines. One special feature of this turbine is the 58.5-m rotor blade, which uses carbon fiber. Nordex partner SGL Rotec produces the rotor blades to spec. Furthermore, as of 2013, Nordex will also be producing these rotor blades itself to meet the strong demand for the N117/2400 as quickly as possible. “The positive reaction by customers at Husum Windenergy has confirmed that we have the right product for the market. In 2014 we will be exhibiting at WindEnergy in Hamburg.”
