Kansai acquires 48.5% interest in 525-MW Texas wind farm

By WPED Staff | July 15, 2020

Kansai Electric Power Co. has entered into an agreement through its subsidiary KPIC USA to acquire a 48.5% interest in Aviator Wind Holdings, owned by funds managed by Ares Management Corporation’s Infrastructure and Power strategy.

The 525-MW project is located in central Texas. Commercial operation is targeted for August 2020. Upon the start of commercial operation, Aviator will be the largest single-phase wind project in ERCOT.

Aviator is Kansai’s first renewable energy and onshore wind farm project in the United States.

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright advised Kansai in its purchase.
