MAKE Consulting tracks 2017’s global wind turbine trends

By Paul Dvorak | January 4, 2018

The wind energy technology landscape continues to evolve at a rapid pace. Make Consulting says onshore turbine manufacturers have opted to pursue evolutionary improvements to their next generation wind turbine products, while dramatic technology shifts are occurring in the offshore product landscape.

Key points in the report include:

  • Differences in regional demand preferences force wind turbine OEMs to pursue platform-based turbine solutions
  • The 10+ MW offshore turbines to be introduced over the coming years are stretching the limits of traditional technologies
  • Many leading turbine manufacturers will need to make tough decisions on their comprehensive portfolios

The Global Wind Turbine Trends 2017 is a 60+ page report containing 120+ charts, tables and graphs providing in-depth analysis of the wind turbine design technical landscape. The report studies the key drivers and barriers for new wind turbine designs and emerging technologies aimed at reducing the LCOE of wind energy. The analysis provides a 5-year outlook on key product trends and prospects for emerging technologies. MAKE’s propriety market models are used to forecast future technology penetration and trends.
