Megger, a manufacturer of portable electrical testing equipment, recently held its 17th annual Megger Distributor Golf Event, raising $20,300 for Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation. The event, held every year at Ahwatukee Country Club in Phoenix, Arizona, is organized in honor of 21-year old cancer graduate Tyler Danner, who is a senior at Northern Arizona University.

“We had 110 golfers participate in this year’s event. And, had the honor of having four children from Phoenix Children’s Hospital golf with us — Charlie, Isaiah, Izak and Landon,” said David Danner, director of distributor sales for Megger, co-coordinator of the event and Tyler’s dad.
He added: “This very special event grows every year. We are humbled by how many people come out and support such a great cause. We are grateful to Megger for making it possible and allowing us to give back to the community that provides hope, healing and the best healthcare to children and their families.”
Working together to make a difference
The event, which is hosted by Megger’s U.S. distribution team, authorized distributors, customers, employees, as well as representatives from Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation, raised an additional $7,000 over last year’s event.
Mike Palmer, event co-coordinator and western regional distribution sales manager for Megger said: “We raised $2,430 with the 50/50 raffle benefiting Phoenix Children’s Hospital. The winner of the 50/50, Jay Barr of RDI, donated his winnings to PCH.”
An additional $945 was raised through the sale of $5 mulligans. Funds were donated to Alpha Bravo Canine, an organization that trains dogs to become service dogs for veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
“So many companies were so generous with their donations. Transcat donated golf towels, Mitchell Instruments donated golf flags, TEquipment was an event sponsor, who donated golf cart graphics commemorating the event, and Hob Knob, a sports bar in Chandler, donated gift cards, and bottled water,” said Danner. “IEC donated $500 to PCH, Mectronics donated $500 to PCH; and Kevin Johnson, CPA, donated $700 to PCH. Several other companies and individuals donated to the hospital. It was a complete team effort this year. We are beyond grateful,”
Additionally, $7,000 in advertising space was donated by WTWH Media as a silent auction item.
Thanks from a cancer graduate
During remarks she made at the event, Tyler Danner said, “It’s hard for me to fully explain the extent of my gratitude for everyone around me right now. There isn’t enough time in a lifetime for me to thank each person who helped me through this experience, and each person who continually supports this event and what we do here, but know that from the bottom of my heart, I overwhelmingly appreciate each and every one of you. I am a very lucky girl, and thank you all for helping me.”
Helping another organization
Additional items were raffled to benefit Super Charlie’s Cancer Fund, an organization that helps uninsured kids with cancer at PCH. The raffle items included a golf bag from Ahwatukee Country Club in Phoenix, a popcorn tin from My Popcorn Factory LLC, a Galaxy tablet from Transcat, premium golf balls and $100 in gift cards from EXFO, as well as Bluetooth speakers from Megger. These donations totaled $1,775.00 and went to the hospital.
For the fourth year in a row, first place went to Andy Augustyniak from Newark Electronics, Andrew Augustyniak, Jim Cooke from Estatec and Jamie Brawly from Earle.
