MHI Vestas Offshore Wind has announced orders for more than 700 MW of V164-8.0 MW turbines in 2017, underlining the growing demand for the platform.
Northland Power Inc. placed an unconditional order with MHI Vestas for more than 700 MW of V164-8.0 MW wind turbines. The 31 units are for the 252-MW Deutsche Bucht project (DeBu).
DeBu is Northland’s third offshore wind project and is located 77 km from Northland’s other German offshore wind project, Nordsee One. The V164-8.0 MW turbines are already installed at the 258 MW Burbo Bank Extension, which has a firm order book of over 1.6 GW.
MHI Vestas Offshore Wind is a joint venture between Vestas Wind Systems A/S (50%) and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (50%). The company’s sole focus is to design, manufacture, install and service wind turbines for the offshore wind industry.
The project will be delivered by MHI Vestas Offshore Wind and will not enter into the order backlog of Vestas Wind Systems A/S.
