MSC Software intros AdWiMo-CE to shorten wind turbine certifications

By Paul Dvorak | September 16, 2016

MSC Software, a leader in helping product manufacturers advance their engineering methods with simulation software and services recently introduced AdWiMo-CE (Advanced Wind Turbine Modeling). It is a numerical simulation solution for wind turbines. The time and effort for load simulation iterations and delivering certification reports can be significantly reduced with the add-on CE (Certification Engine).

Based on MSC Adams, a multi-body dynamics solution, the MSC “Advanced Wind Turbine Modeler” (AdWiMo) simulates turbine behavior using dynamics technology.

The certification of wind turbines requires a multitude of calculations repeating for variable loading conditions. Performing these simulations for many design variants and investigating the ensuing results is time consuming.

Based on MSC Adams, a multi-body dynamics solution, the MSC “Advanced Wind Turbine Modeler” (AdWiMo) simulates turbine behavior using dynamics technology.

The “Certification Engine” simplifies the certification process by creating model variants based on the certification guideline the user wishes to evaluate. AdWiMo also streamlines the process by making it easier for users to detect parallel simulations and generate automated custom reports.

“With Adams AdWiMo, a user can be significantly more productive” says Dr. Christof Rachor, Team Leader Wind Turbine Applications from MSC Software. “The tool automates many tasks that engineers have traditionally spent days to weeks on, such as load simulations, analysis of results and creation of certification reports.”

During the WindEnergy Hamburg (Sept 27 to 30, 2016), AdWiMo will be showcased at the MSC Software Booth 298 in Hall B6. There will also be a presentation on the Speakers Corner on September 29, at 11:15h between Hall B1 and B2 (Ground floor).
