Data is updated on a quarterly basis, with the 10-year forecasts revised based on Navigant Research’s continual tracking of the latest trends, as well as expanding data sources for product sales. Watch a Data Services Demo here.

Powered by Navigant Research’s energy storage forecast models, this Data Service enables users to prioritize investment targets in markets that are expected to grow rapidly, while monitoring those that are expected to emerge, decline, or flatten in the mid-to-long term.

By delivering market forecast data both visually and in numerical tables, users can quickly appreciate macro trends and then delve into specific market segments for greater insights.

“The energy storage market is experiencing significant growth in terms of emerging markets, utility procurements, M&A activity, and business models,” says Anissa Dehamna, principal research analyst with Navigant Research. “By incorporating regulatory, policy, procurement, supply chain, and financing developments into our market forecasts, the Energy Storage Forecast Data Service delivers timely, actionable market intelligence.”

Decision makers can use the Data Services platform to create customized views and sort data by product or service type, region or country, price, and manufacturer, or additional customization can be developed upon request. These offerings allow energy professionals to anticipate market disruption, understand likely changes in the future product mix, and evaluate the entire market ecosystem of suppliers, influencers, manufacturers, and customers.

Data is updated on a quarterly basis, with the 10-year forecasts revised based on Navigant Research’s continual tracking of the latest trends, as well as expanding data sources for product sales. Market forecasts include seven applications, up to 10 technologies (e.g., pumped storage, flywheels, ultracapcitors, power-to-gas, lithium ion, flow, and advanced lead-acid batteries), and as many as nine building types and 26 country markets. The market size is measured in megawatts, megawatt-hours, and installed system revenue.

The Energy Storage Forecast Data Service is the latest in a family of interactive tools that forecast the future trends in innovation for the clean energy industry. Navigant Research also offers the Energy Storage Projects Data Service, which provides project data — including the participating companies and project scale — on current and newly commissioned energy storage projects across the globe.
