NextGen Climate launches television ad promoting transition to clean energy

By Joshua Smalley | August 17, 2015

NextGen Climate recently released a new television ad as part of its campaign calling on candidates and elected officials to lay their out plans to transition our nation to a clean energy economy. The new ad was made by a creative team led by acclaimed director Darren Aronofsky, and is the second collaboration between NextGen Climate and Aronofsky.

“When it comes to climate change and clean energy, America is on the brink of something huge,” said NextGen Climate President Tom Steyer. “But we need candidates and elected officials who are truly committed to accelerating America’s transition to a clean energy economy, and will give our businesses the tools they need to do what they do best—innovate, create, and lead the world.”

View the full ad below:

NextGen Climate is calling on candidates at every level to produce a plan to power America with more than 50 percent clean energy by 2030, putting us on a path to a 100 percent clean energy economy by 2050. This ambitious but achievable goal is crucial to preventing the disastrous impacts of climate change, while strengthening America’s economy, creating jobs, and improving public health.

Climate change is our greatest challenge, but it is also our greatest opportunity—to create jobs, to build new industries and to grow our economy. America has a long history of innovation and global leadership, from the invention of the light bulb to putting a man on the moon. Now America has an opportunity to lead the world once again, by accelerating the transition to a clean energy economy.

The ad marks the first in a series of television ads in support of NextGen Climate’s #50by30 clean energy goal.
