Construction of Ontario’s Port Ryerse Wind Farm, developed by Boralex Inc., will begin June 13 and will last about five months. Located east of the hamlet of Port Ryerse in Norfolk County, this project will have four Siemens SWT 3.0 113 turbines, with a total capacity of 10 MW. It is expected to create up to 50 jobs during the construction.
Port Ryerse Wind Farm, which represents an investment of $38.4 M, has been developed in response to the Government of Ontario’s initiative to promote the development of renewable energy in the province. Commissioning of the wind farm is slated for November 2016.
The project was awarded a Feed-in-Tarriff (FIT) contract with the Ontario Power Authority (OPA). Pursuant to the Act and Regulation, the facility is considered to be a Class 4 Wind Energy Facility.
