PCB Piezotronics launches new line of accelerometers

By WPED Staff | September 20, 2019

PCB Piezotronics, a wholly owned subsidiary of MTS Systems Corporation, announced the release of six new intrinsically safe (ATEX/CSA/IECEx), extreme temperature charge accelerometers with a UHT-12 sensing element. These products have been developed for use in aviation/power generation turbine research & development and monitoring applications.

  • Model EX357E90: 2.3 pC/g, single-ended output, axis of measurement parallel to the direction of the mounting screw
  • Model EX357E91: 2.3 pC/g, single-ended output, axis of measurement perpendicular to the direction of the mounting screw
  • Model EX357E92: 5.0 pC/g, single-ended output, axis of measurement parallel to the direction of the mounting screw
  • Model EX357E93: 5.0 pC/g, single-ended output, axis of measurement perpendicular to the direction of the mounting screw
  • Model EX357A94: 3.3 pC/g, differential output, axis of measurement parallel to the direction of the mounting screw
  • Model EX357A95: 3.3 pC/g, differential output, axis of measurement perpendicular to the direction of the mounting screw

Key features of the new extreme temperature charge accelerometers:

  • Proprietary crystal technology sealed in a hermetic package provides long-term reliability.
  • No pyroelectric output provides accurate low-frequency measurements.
  • Reduced thermal noise spikes eliminate false alarms during monitoring.
  • More consistent sensitivity over a wide temperature change provides greater accuracy.
  • Shear mode crystals prevent base strain and transverse measurement errors.

PCB Piezotronics offers various charge amplifiers to support the launch of these new accelerometers, including Models 422M182 and EX682A40.
