Planning ahead: For the first time in Hamburg in 2016: The world’s leading conference of the wind energy industry

By Paul Dvorak | October 13, 2015

For the first time, the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) will hold its annual conference in parallel with WindEnergy Hamburg in 2016. This international event further strengthens Hamburg’s position as Europe’s capital of the wind industry.

The trade show in previous years included small wind turbines that are particularly suitable for slow-wind areas, new substructures for east-west facing solar panels, and new wood burners, mini solar systems for own consumption and small-scale manure-based biogas plants. More and similar events can be expected in 2016.

WindEnergy Hamburg will open doors for the second time from 27 to 30 September 2016. After the successful premiere in 2014, Hamburg’s fair site will again be the meeting place for experts of the energy business from around the world. WindEnergy Hamburg offers the global wind industry an ideal platform for dialogue and the presentation of innovative products and services – at the location of the technology leader, Germany. It highlights the innovative edge and dynamic energy of the wind industry in both, established markets and the key markets of the future.

For the first time EWEA, the trade conference of the European wind energy association, will be held in parallel with the leading trade fair for wind energy, WindEnergy Hamburg, in 2016. This was announced today by the CEO’s of Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH and EWEA. The world’s leading wind industry conference is regarded as the most important meeting place for decision makers of the European wind energy sector where to discuss the strategic direction and the political environment for wind energy in Europe.

“With WindEnergy Hamburg as the leading global trade fair for wind energy, HUSUM Wind as a trade fair focused on the German market, and the foremost international conference of the wind energy market, northern Germany is definitely becoming the most important source of inspiration for the international wind energy sector,” says Bernd Aufderheide, President and CEO of Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH. “Being able to attend the leading global industry fair and the European wind industry conference at the same location is an extremely attractive proposition to both, our exhibitors and our visitors.

“We are delighted to be teaming up with WindEnergy Hamburg in 2016. EWEA will organise the leading industry conference alongside the top wind energy trade fair. Combining EWEA’s political and industry know-how with the outstanding business power of the leading trade fair, makes the 2016 collaboration the must attend event for the global wind industry. Hamburg will be a great location to host such a meeting after the 2015 industry gathering in Paris at EWEA 2015 this November” says Malgosia Bartosik, Deputy CEO of EWEA.
