Power Climber Wind opens facility in Brazil and gains BNDES approval

By Michelle Froese | April 15, 2016

PCW - TSLs in Brazil

Power Climber enters Brazil market and obtains compliance with the local content rules of the Brazilian Development Bank.

Power Climber Wind, a division of SafeWorks, LLC, recently opened a new production facility in Recife, Brazil to better serve its customers in that market. Power Climber also obtained compliance with the local content rules of the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES).

“We focused on developing local relationships capable of meeting our volume and quality standards,” said Mike Moritz, Vice President of Supply Chain.

An initial order of more than 50 Sherpa SD4 Turbine Service Lifts (TSL) will be installed in turbines at the Cabeço Preto and Macambira wind projects. It represents the first of many company orders in the region. TSL production began in the winter of 2015.

“The BNDES approval and this large TSL order mark major milestones for Power Climber Wind in the Brazilian market,” said Colby Hubler, company Sales Manager. “We’ve been manufacturing and supplying the most reliable turbine service lifts to major wind OEMs around the world for decades. Establishing a local presence in Brazil was a natural evolution for us, and we are confident our market- leading TSLs and wind turbine access solutions will be well received by OEMs and technicians here, ultimately improving their safety and productivity.”
