
In early May, a jack-up barge with 90-ft legs performed pressure tests and extracted soil samples from Lake Erie where the nonprofit Lake Erie Energy Development Corporation (LEEDCo) plans to erect up to nine, 3MW wind turbines in 2016. The analysis is essential to LEEDCo’s effort to build the first freshwater wind farm in America and will ensure the turbines’ foundation design is tailored to the Lake Erie environment. The work was completed by mid May.
