Pure sine grid interactive inverters

By Kathie Zipp | January 3, 2011

A Mississippi-based manufacturer of embedded hardware offers a series of inverters specifically for the turbine market. When combined with a tower-mount turbine, Diversified Technologies’ Gale Series inverters take the variable electric power generated and create manageable, smooth current that can be sold to the utility.

The inverters allow a wide input voltage range with energy-saving,  low-speed power mode to allow for smooth operation at minimal turbine revolutions, and other features designed to meet specific needs of the wind power market. For instance, soft grid technology allows the inverter to produce power during wind gusts that would otherwise cause over voltage on the grid. This is useful in rural locations during light local loading conditions and maximizes profits for the operator, while preventing annoying system resets.

The inverters come in 12-kW and 6-kW models, comply with standards set for grid-tied operation, and are available in 240V/208V single or split phase grid output.

Other features include:

-UL 1741 and CSA C22.2 No. 107.1-01 compliance
-proprietary PWM algorithm and components that allow for lower frequecy PWM mode with quiet operation
-wide input voltage range of 85-400VAC allows for easy adaptation to many power sources
-low speed operation down to 50 VAC input
-cooling fans only operate when needed
-indoor weather protected
-built-in disconnect for utility grid interaction
-high-speed fusing built-in protects grd
-touch screen display
