RINA adds to its offshore due diligence team

By Michelle Froese | July 25, 2018

Ked Shayer

Shayer brings offshore wind and due diligence projects experience, including Gemini, one of the largest finance deals.

RINA recently appointed Ked Shayer as Senior Consultant to its offshore wind team. Shayer has had close involvement with a number of large offshore wind and due diligence projects including Gemini, one of the largest renewable energy finance deals and Walney, the first debt-financed minority equity investment in the industry.

“Shayer’s track record and broad experience in the offshore wind sector strengthens RINA’s existing capabilities significantly,” said Fabio Bagnoli, Executive Vice President – Power, at RINA.”RINA has already worked on more than 8 GW of offshore wind projects in a wide range of engineering and consultancy roles. We are now looking to further grow our team supporting investors and lenders interested in this exciting industry.”

Having worked with both Vattenfall and Scottish Power Renewables, Shayer brings a unique client perspective to the RINA offshore business.

“Offshore wind is maturing as a technology, and more and more financial institutions are interested in investment in the sector,” added Bagnoli. “Recent cost reduction trends are positive for the long-term viability of the industry, however, cost reduction can lead to increased risk and hence it is crucial to obtain informed technical advice from a strong team of engineers and consultants such as those at RINA.”

RINA provides a wide range of services across the Energy, Marine, Certification, Transport & Infrastructure and Industry sectors.
